09 Feb Improve Your SEO Ranking with Small Changes
It’s the big question: how can I boost my ranking with Google to get to the top of the list? You may feel as if you’ve tried everything, but even after months and months have passed, you’re still not seeing the results that you want. This is where an internet marketer – along with the experience that goes with that position – comes in handy. In the meantime, here are some ways that you can work to improve your SEO ranking.
Speed up the Process!
It’s no secret that those not on the first page of search results are going to see much less traffic, but did you know that a whopping 75% of browsing users won’t venture to that second page? Maybe that’s exactly what you expected, or maybe it’s a surprise, but either way you need to work harder than ever to get your website in those first ten spots in order to be seen.
How quickly do your pages load? This is huge in determining your ranking both from Google’s side of things and from the opinions of your visitors. If your load time isn’t great, then the search engine will likely notice and adjust your ranking accordingly. On the other side of things, the modern web-browsing audience, with its low attention span, will abandon their exploration of your site if it takes any time at all for the pages to appear. Test out this speed by using a few of the resources online, such as Pingdom, PageSpeed Insights by Google, GTmetrix, or others.
Blogging Is the Best Way to Improve Your SEO Ranking
Website updates (such as regular blog posts) are one of the best, if not the best, way to improve your SEO ranking. You’ve probably heard this before, but believe it! “To drive more traffic to your website and increase its popularity, you need to give visitors a reason to keep coming back.” If the site is exactly the same as when it was the last time they visited, then visitors have no reason to return. However, if you’re writing interesting and high-quality content that you share with them on a regular basis, then you’re successfully creating incentive for them to visit again.
Whether it’s in the blog posts or on pages, your images have to be optimized. What does this mean? Make sure that your pictures aren’t enormous, because that will impact load time and cause your site to load much more slowly. You can usually resize or compress them online in order to combat this. Also, use your title and alt tags! Don’t just leave your images labeled with something nondescript. Instead, include keywords that you want to rank for to receive a meta data boost.
Worried about big blocks of content? Something as simple as adding an H3 tag – or any kind of header – can make a big difference. Adding headers gives a bit of a break in that daunting wall of text, so consider changing the organization of your content to help the page load more easily and to give your audience an easier time of digesting your material. Another way to accomplish this is if you “add more than text,” such as pictures, of course, and also ” other multimedia elements such as videos, slideshows, or audio.” This will really make your pages more interesting for visitors and will help to keep them engaged from start to finish. People especially like to see videos… like as a result of their (our) low attention spans.
