Website updates (such as regular blog posts) are one of the best, if not the best, way to improve your SEO ranking. You’ve probably heard this before, but believe it! “To drive more traffic to your website and increase its popularity, you need to give visitors a reason to keep coming back.” If the site is exactly the same as when it was the last time they visited, then visitors have no reason to return. However, if you’re writing interesting and high-quality content that you share with them on a regular basis, then you’re successfully creating incentive for them to visit again.
Whether it’s in the blog posts or on pages, your images have to be optimized. What does this mean? Make sure that your pictures aren’t enormous, because that will impact load time and cause your site to load much more slowly. You can usually resize or compress them online in order to combat this. Also, use your title and alt tags! Don’t just leave your images labeled with something nondescript. Instead, include keywords that you want to rank for to receive a meta data boost.
Worried about big blocks of content? Something as simple as adding an H3 tag – or any kind of header – can make a big difference. Adding headers gives a bit of a break in that daunting wall of text, so consider changing the organization of your content to help the page load more easily and to give your audience an easier time of digesting your material. Another way to accomplish this is if you “add more than text,” such as pictures, of course, and also ” other multimedia elements such as videos, slideshows, or audio.” This will really make your pages more interesting for visitors and will help to keep them engaged from start to finish.
